- Welcome
- Proclaiming the Gospel
- Restoring Peace
- Care for Orphans
- Humanitarian Aid
Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ!
It is with great joy that we share with you news of the South Sudan Lutheran Church Mission. This organization of Christians from across the U.S. is centered on four principles:
• Proclaiming the Gospel and the Good News of Jesus Christ both in the United States and South Sudan
• Restoring Peace by actively working to promote just and lasting peace in South Sudan.
• Care for Orphans, including financial assistance for education and care.
• Humanitarian Aid to the thousands of refugees, orphans, hospitalized and others that are in desperate need.
The SSLCM will also strive to share Luther's Small Catechism and other Christian writings in the languages of South Sudan. We encourage you to join us in one or more of these efforts. May God bless you and may God be with the people of South Sudan.
Yours in Christ,
Rev. Dr. Curtis H. PetersThe South Sudan Lutheran Church Mission is rooted in the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ – "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit..."(Matthew 28:19)
As an auxiliary of the South Sudan Lutheran Church Mission, Restore Hope for South Sudan will focus on a collective effort to unite the people of South Sudan in bringing an end to the savage conflict that has divided the nation. All people, regardless of religious background, political affiliation, tribe or gender are urged to work together to proclaim a message of peace.
Restore Hope for South Sudan will work to train and empower church leaders, youth, women, and anyone with a heart for reconciliation to demonstrate peace and healing to the hurting and disillusioned people across South Sudan.
As Christians, we are clearly called to support and care for the weak, including orphans and disadvantaged children. The South Sudan Lutheran Church Mission has made orphan ministry a priority. The Orphans' and Abandoned Children Scholarship Program provides a direct means to demonstrate care and compassion for orphans. Four of our sponsored orphans are currently placed in boarding schools in Uganda and Kenya. The majority of the children are receiving assistance in South Sudan. The tuition and fees for each sponsored child is $150.00 per trimester, which totals $450.00 per year.

In partnership with other nonprofits and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO's) the SSLCM will provide humanitarian aid in the form of food, shelter, medical assistance and other essential items. The humanitarian efforts are supported by Kids Against Hunger-Louisville, a nonprofit organization that utilizes volunteers to package nutrient-rich meals for malnourished children.
In February of 2014, KAH-Louisville in partnership with Hands Against Hunger and A Child's Hope International (Cincinnati) provided more than 300,000 vitamin-fortified high-protein meals and water purification supplies to Juba, South Sudan. The meals have been provided to the Juba Teaching Hospital where many Sudanese are being treated for injuries that have resulted from the recent violence. Meals have also been provided to the Yei Orphan Center.
