2015 Convention November 7 - 8

You are invited to attend the 2015 "Restore Hope for South Sudan" Convention hosted by the South Sudan Lutheran Church Mission, November 7 - 8 in Louisville, KY. Special guests include Bishop Elijah Arok, Bishop Peter Bol Arok, the Rev. John Loum, and LCMS Indiana District President Daniel May. The Conference will be held at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 4209 Gardiner View Avenue, Louisville, KY.

  • Sunday, November 8: Worship and Prayers for Peace | 10:30 AM - with an afternoon of Guest Speakers and fellowship beginning at 1:30 PM

Rev. John Deng Ater returns from "Peace and Christian Care Trip" to South Sudan.

The Rev. John Deng Ater, (Louisville, KY) recently returned from a two-week trip to South Sudan. The trip provided an opportunity to observe first-hand the situation in South Sudan, visit an orphanage in Yei, report on the impact of humanitarian aid, and meet with the Bishops of the Anglican Church of South Sudan to discuss peace initiatives and their relationship with the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. Messages of Peace and Encouragement

Letters containing messages of peace and encouragement were recently written by pastors of Lutheran congregations, the Indiana District of the LCMS, and leaders of humanitarian aid organizations. The letters were delivered to South Sudan church leaders. To see the letters, click here.

Voice of the Orphans DVD Available for Purchase

sm dvdThe Anglican Church of South Sudan has produced a new video. Voice of the Orphans "Restoring Hope" Gospel Video Album is a collection of song and dance that features children yearning for peace in a country ravaged by war. One song cries out:

God the Father, deliver us in this bondage.
Dry bones are everywhere, enough blood has shed.
And countless innocent souls are flying before you.
Eternal life is in your hands, God of peace.

The DVD includes songs in Dinka, Arabic, and English and it may be purchased for $30. All proceeds will go toward the Orphans' and Abandoned Children Scholarship Program - founded by the United Sudanese Lutheran Church, Louisville, KY USA. Your donation helps the children get an education.
